Her responsibilities include:
- Increasing public awareness of the NWI SBDC and its mission and goals
- Maintaining and updating the Web site and calendars
- Reaching out to the public through social media avenues, such as Twitter and Facebook
- Working with media contacts to publicize upcoming events and information
- Creating marketing materials, including the newsletter, press releases and fliers
- Assisting with special events, workshops and seminars
Lesly has her roots in journalism. She worked at a daily newspaper for 11 years, including the Columbus (Ind.) Republic and The Times of Northwest Indiana. She was responsible for editing and designing pages, concentrating on the state, national and world news. A strong supporter of the law enforcement community, she has participated in numerous events honoring fallen officers, including Chicago’s Run to Remember and the Porter County Sheriff’s Police Foot Pursuit.
